ADAPTIVE / INCLUSIVE TRAINER
After watching the CrossFit Games in 2012 and the Series “Killing the Fat Man” put out by CrossFit, Kirsten started CrossFit as a means to get in shape. After her first class she was hooked. Over the course of the next decade, she found a love for competing, participating in both local and large scale competitions.
In 2018, after experiencing odd pains, she was diagnosed with cancer. After undergoing intense radiation, and a full sciatic nerve resection which left her with a permanent impairment, she became interested in adaptive CrossFit both as a competitor and a coach. Knowing the role CrossFit played in her recovery, her aim is to provide those opportunities for people with impairments to help improve their quality of life and support their recovery through CrossFit. She has worked with the local Spinal Cord Injury Group, and is looking to help grow adaptive fitness participation in Ocala.
She has hosted two seminars giving coaches and athlete alike the experience of what it feels like to be an adaptive athlete, as well as education on how to appropriately adapt movements for different impairments. She is looking to host several more in the upcoming year.
In December of 2022 she will be competing at the WheelWOD Games held in Raleigh, North Carolina. This is the largest competition for adaptive athletes in CrossFit. She earned her spot through a first place finish at the Atlantic Coast Classic.
When Kirsten is not working out, she is teaching Music and Band. In addition, she runs a school CrossFit Affiliate, making her school the only one in the county to have a program as a part of their school. She holds her Bachelors in Music Education from Stetson University, and Masters in Music Education from Florida State University.

Born in Alaska, but raised in Ocala, Coach V has been a traveler all her life. After graduating high school, she traveled to Tucson, AZ to complete her studies in Veterinary Technology. This is where she first discovered CrossFit in 2013. She managed to lose 60 pounds in the process. Eventually she developed a passion for Olympic Weightlifting, and competed exclusively in that specialty for 18 months. This is where she began her coaching career.
Besides the gym, Coach V loves spending time with her fiancee Brandon, hanging out with friends and family as well as being outdoors. She also competes in the United Grid League and is currently a utility player on the Atlanta Wild. She loves spending her free time at home with her two fur babies, Cider and Zero.
